Part-Time Sales Associate
Houndstooth is hiring! We’re looking for the perfect part-time person to help our little shop grow. If you love talking about pets, petting people’s dogs and cats (as well as the occasional other fun and fuzzy family member!), and helping people and pets find exactly what they need, read on.
We need someone to work between 12 and 20 hours each week, including weekends and during the fall/winter holiday seasons. Tourists and locals alike are the backbone to our business, so excellent customer service skills are a must. At any given moment, you’ll…
- Help someone fit their dog for a coat, collar, or harness.
- Help someone find the perfect toy or treat for a dog or cat.
- Assist with merchandising/ display design.
- Make product recommendations based on your understanding of their pet’s situation.
- Point someone in the direction of a gift item for a pet parent.
- Make a name tag.
- Make a sale!
- Pet several dogs — and give them treats (as long as they’re allowed treats!).
- (You may also be asked to recommend a lunch or dinner spot!)
Required Skills:
- Friendly demeanor — ideally, you’re an outgoing pet-loving people person
- An open mind — helping customers is a big part of the job, but so is stocking shelves, tracking inventory, and (occasionally) cleaning up "accidents"
- Strong listening/ communication skills
- POS knowledge/ understanding
- Basic product knowledge/ understanding
- Marketing and social media background a plus
